Taking pictures at night is also an art, you need to have full control over your camera, equipment and the night itself. The right lightning, timing etc counts a lot. Excellent images for inspiration. Really appreciate the HDR images.
Stunning!
Loved the London images especially :)
Looks like Mickey Mouse is giving me the finger.
what type of camera was used for this photography? When you say, “out of the box” were you referring to a camera with all included hardware and nothing special for lenses, filters, ect. They are beautiful pictures and I am just curious what type of equipment was used to capture these images.
thanks.
By “out of the box” I am sure the author means “not your typical.” Most cameras have the ability to take shots at night. Most of these were probably taken with DSLRs, on tripods, set to very slow shutter speeds. I am able to do this with my bottom-of-the-line Nikon DSLR. My daughter’s simple Canon point & shoot has a night scene function too, which works great as long as she stabilizes the camera.
Wow, most impressive dude!

meh, theres quite a few here that arent that “outside the box”. some ace work but it could have been 25 awesome pics by trimming some chaff.. most of the hdr shizz espescially, since its more tech-gimmick in most guises
i always really liked this guys shots
Some very cool shots here. Some of the HDR was overdone IMO, but the rest was quite cool.
Gorgeous pictures! I’m still working on getting the hang of night photography.
HDR is so lame. It’s not night photography it’s graphic art.
I’ve shot a few things. Just picked up this really cheap 10 mp polaroid digital at a thrift store for $28 and have been carrying it with me and getting some really fun stuff.
Here’s a night shot I did with it. I was blown away at the quality the little cam pulls off.

Here’s another for the cyclists out there. Shot at Portland’s infamous Montage restaurant on a walk to the gas station in my previous comment.

I’m glad everyone liked it, well .. almost everyone :) – Some don’t like HDR photos but then there are some who have a different opinion. So have to work with everyone’s perception here.
Regarding “Out of the Box” term, I believe Deirdre here explained what I really meant. Do Stay tuned, I’ll be posting some awesome tutorials next up..
